Safety In Times Of Trouble

There is so much fear loosed on the earth today, but that does not mean that we have to accept fear.  Whether it is a natural disaster or an attack devised by man that comes our way, we can have safety and a peace that “passes all understanding” because God has promised us that He has provided protection for us.

I was in the military in the 60’s and 70’s and I understand power and authority.  Psalm 71:3 says “Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort; thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.” (KJV)  That is a scripture that I continually confess over my life and family. An order has been given from Heaven to save me!

Glory to God!

Hebrews 1:14 says of Angels, “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” (KJV)

Psalm 103:20 says “Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.” (KJV)

Take time to pray, tie all these scriptures together and speak them over yourself and family. You CAN be safe and have peace. Here we see that angels do His commandments and hearken to the voice of His Word. We must speak His Word. When we speak His Word, it is as if God Himself is speaking and angels move on our behalf.  When problems come, do not say that it is all over; that this is one time when you are not going to come out in victory. Instead, speak God’s word.

That is why I say that Psalm 119:89 is my favorite scripture. “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in Heaven.” Situations come and situations go, but what does the Word say about the situation. The Word of God is settled. What has He said He will do for you? In Psalm 71:3, the Bible says “…thou hast given commandment to save me.” (KJV). The Word of God does not change, because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Heb.13:8 KJV)

Reading Psalm 44:4-8 tells us more about His protection. Proverbs 18:10 says “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” (KJV)  That word “safe” means to be lifted up. One of the first protection scriptures I learned and trusted is Psalm 27. Verse 5 of that Psalm says “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion; in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” Isaiah 54:17 tells us that “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper…”

I spent 16 years in ministry translating for ministers (English to Spanish) as they preached. I am honored to have translated for Dr. Oral Roberts twice throughout the 90’s. I heard him explain Isaiah 54:17 in a very simple way, and it left no room for doubt. He said, “Why will weapons formed against you not prosper?” He chuckled with confidence and said, “Because EVERY weapon that God gives you WILL prosper.” That is simple and yet so awesome!

Psalm 91 is a tremendous word for protection!

Psalm 94:22 says “But the Lord is my defense; and my God is the rock of my refuge.”

Exodus 14:13-14 says “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today; for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace.” Wow! We do not have to panic. We can have peace and know that we will come out in victory.

These scriptures are only a sample of the hundreds that speak to our peace and security. I am still discovering more each day. One more that is useful in today’s world is Exodus 23:25 which says “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” (KJV)

I like to cook on the grill. I have read countless thousands of articles that encourage cooking on an open grill because “a lot of the fat will not stay on the meat”. Guess what. I clicked on the internet the other day and there was FEAR! The headline read, “Cooking On Grill Hazardous to Health”. Now, they say there are gases that the charcoal lets out and gets in the meat and can cause cancer. Thank you, Lord, for Psalm 119:89 and Exodus 23:25. He blesses our food and water. God must have known that man would someday start putting all kinds of chemical in plants and meats. He has us covered. According to Isaiah 53:5, He literally has our back.

Natural disasters, attacks from terrorists, bad pet food, poison gases from the charcoal, and everything in between are all covered by the Word. When you hear those reports always ask yourself, “What does the Word say?”

You can have safety and peace in the Name of Jesus.
